Community Outreach
Ensuring the public has the best information available on how to properly use 9-1-1 is an important goal of Sumner County Emergency Communications.

Our Community Outreach Programs strive to find every available opportunity to do this.

School/Library Visits: Members of SCEC welcome the opportunity to visit community libraries to reach to children. SCEC brings their big book "Cell Phone Sally" which educates children on the proper uses of 9-1-1.

Dispatchers also visit elementary schools across the county each year to connect with children. SCEC brings "Celly" the cell phone with them to entertain and teach children about 9-1-1 services.

We also welcome the opportunity to participate in "career day" to introduce children to the career of public safety dispatching.

Coffee With A Dispatcher. Periodically, dispatchers meet with citizens around the county for "Coffee With A Dispatcher", a time to meet with the public and answer questions they have about the proper use of 9-1-1 or our operations.

Civic Clubs/Organizations. Need a speaker for your Civic Group, Organization, or Friendship Meal? Chapter and Group Presidents are encouraged to contact Deputy Director Bristor to schedule a presentation. We can tailor any presentation to meet the needs of an evening meal or simple luncheon.

Health Fairs. SCEC welcomes the opportunity to set up our booth at any Health Fair event. As a part of public safety, and especially emergency medical services with our Emergency Medical Dispatch program, we would love to provide information to the public.
